  2. Necessary permissions to set up monitoring and alerting systems

Description of Use Case:

  1. Setup: The engineer starts by logging into cPouta.
  2. Configure ports: Adjust port settings.
  3. Open virtual machines: Getting ready to install necessary monitoring tools and services.
  4. Install and Configure Monitoring Tools: Install and configure Prometheus for monitoring and Grafana for visualization.
  5. Define alerts: Define alerts in Prometheus to monitor system health and performance.
  6. Create dashboards: Create dashboards in Grafana to visualize the metrics collected by Prometheus.
  7. Adjust if needed: Adjust settings, alerts, and dashboards as needed.

Exceptions

  • E1: Insufficient resource allocations
  • E2: Compatibility problems

Result

  • A monitoring and alerting system that enhances system oversight and accelerates problem-solving, improving reliability and performance.

Use frequency

  • Monitoring and alerting systems are set up once, but the platform engineer must continuously monitor and review them.
